I'm not very good at posting things I create on an ongoing basis :) I created this video and this set at the turn of October and November 2022. It was an entry for the LEGO Ideas - Dungeons and Dragons competition, the aim of which was to design a set referring to this famous game. I'll write right away - I didn't win :)
It happens :) In creative competitions, it is often not known what the jury will like. I totally missed it. Classic, large scale diorama won. If I had known that this was what the jury preferred, I would probably have gone in that direction. But I went in a different direction, creating a small set that would be suitable for gaming and generally related to the roots of DnD game.
I was so fascinated by the topic that I even made a short animation showing the set in action. Making it was quite fun. I wanted to achieve a cave effect without the cave :) And without building additional things that would not be included in my set. It's all about the appropriate use of light (and lack of it in most space).
I also recorded a few live-action shots and took a few photos and you can see the effect below.
As you have probably already seen, I created three rock formations with fungi that can be arranged in different ways and you can play various scenarios with them. We also have 3 classic, archetypal heroes and their opponents - 3 undead, Drider and Beholder.
The whole thing takes place in Underdark. It is a network of underground caverns and tunnels. There are some areas with giant fungi growing in those caverns. .
Some numbers:
• 573 bricks
• 6 minifigures
• 2 brick built monsters
• 2 brick built dice
• 3 rockworks with fungi
• 16 fungi
• 1 light brick with on/off switch
Character list:
• Wizard with staff
• Knight with dual swords
• Elvish Archer with long bow
• Skeleton Necromancer with skull staff
• Skeleton warrior with a sword and shield
• Skeleton warrior with a sword
• Drider with a long sword
• Beholder!
