Finally! I managed to go through literally hundreds of pictures. I have chosen 47 and prepared them for publication here. The diorama you will look at is the biggest thing that I design and build myself ever! It was presented at 3 LEGO exhibitions of my LUG (Zbudujmy to! - Let's Build It!). I was also co-organizer and lecturer on making brickfilms so it was so crazy and busy time. But that's not today's topic. Premiere of the diorama took place at Warsaw, Poland (starting May 25, 2017) at awesome event called Pixel Heaven. Later (from June 1st) - moved to Nadarzyn, Poland where first ever Polish Comic Con took place. And the last exhibition, lasting 3 months, was held at huge Aquapark in Reda, Poland. The diorama always travelled with printed desc which had lot of interesting infos about it. Below you can find some quick translation of it. Enjoy!
STORY
The diorama shows a fragment of some fantasy world. Castle of Lion Knights is a stronghold separating the ancient Portal from the land inhabited by people.
Portal has been inactive for hundreds of years. Local people have already forgotten what was the purpose of the portal and who built it. They got used to its presence. Now they are collecting mushrooms and pasturing cows near it.
Now everything has changed! Quiet life was interrupted. Portal has been activated!
Orcs are spawning through a black hole surrounded by a red glow. Orcs with the green skin are natural-born warriors supported by the female shaman. Red-skin Orcs are boosted with the Blood Magic. The highest rank Orcs are mounted on the huge and evil beasts out of this world.
Spells of Blood Orcs are incredibly powerful. They can bring back to life fallen warriors from the nearby cemetery. The undead army is growing up with every moment and it will support an Orcs' army.
DIORAMA
This is an original project. There are no sets from the store here. Everything was designed from the scratch. Castle, terrain, minifigures (especially Orcs) are mostly made of LEGO elements from the Castle, City, Creator, Minifgures, Ninjago, Nexo Knights and Star Wars themed bricks.
The inspiration for creating this diorama were author's favourite fantasy worlds from the books, movies and computer games such as WarCraft, Diablo, Lord of the Rings, and DarkSiders 2.
It took around 4 months from an idea to finished model. Most of the time took the process of designing ("in the head" and on the computer), estimating the number of needed elements and figuring out how to build the elements of the diorama with bricks owned by the author to minimize ordering additional LEGO bricks. The process of building itself took about 3 weeks.
DATA
The size of the diorama is 145 cm aka 58 inches (length) x 56 cm aka 22 inches (width) x 75 cm aka 30 inces (height). Around 20,000 LEGO bricks were used to build it. It was designed as a modular - it can be easily separated into 7 major parts and 4 smaller ones.
