This is the fourth animation in the series. My favorite. Mainly because of the rain, which I animated for the first time, as well as the general atmosphere and the story loosely referring to a famous scene from a movie.
Yes. Rain. I've wanted to make it for a long time. And finally the opportunity came. Rain in the film is not only water pouring from the sky, but also completely different light and colors. Take a look at these shots below. They both are taken at same spot, same scenery but I simulated completely different weather on them.
Everything is done with practical effects, directly in the lens. It's a matter of choosing proper lightning and camera settings. Only streams of rain were added in the post-production. The water on set is real water. In my opinion it creates a very cool atmosphere. I had a lot of fun animating it and experimenting with it. I learned something new while creating this video :)
As I shot most of the scenes from this film at the end of the marathon of creating 5 productions at the same time there were no big problems to solve.
I say most because several scenes, such as the passing by the Triceratops, were shot closer to the beginning than the end due to the use of the same scenery. It was quite a logistical challenge to coordinate the making of 5 films at one time. The goal was to avoid setting up the same places twice. I had to keep an eye on which figure or car was in which place so that it would fit with the scenes before and after a given shot. Sometimes the time span for shooting two shots next to each other in the film was up to 1 month because that was the schedule.
Today was a short post :) See you in the next and last part of the article.
