When I buy a new LEGO set I almost always build some alternative structure with it. I've always enjoyed playing with a limited palette of bricks. It doubles the creativity. But I've almost never posted them here. Time to change that :)

Not only does this alt (short for alternative build, as such creations are usually called) end up here on the blog, it also comes with instructions. It was a lot of work. I've been wanting to create a few instructions and release them for a small fee. More will appear here over time - some for free like the recently published cart, others for a low price.

Oh - I'm curious if the price is ok for you? Obviously free would be best but unfortunately creating such professional instructions takes a lot of time. It's many hours spent at the computer, testing in real life to make sure everything is buildable. Then, corrections, re-testing and preparing the file for publication.

Okay, but let's get back to the building itself. Since this is the alt of the LEGO Creator 3167 Haunted Mansion set you don't need any additional bricks to build it. This one box is enough. By the way, I highly recommend this Creator. Tons of great basic bricks and unique figures. Including a glow-in-the-dark ghost!

The cemetery (or should I call it graveyard?) starts with a beautiful, ornate gate. Behind it are graves and various visitors. Some of them look like they are living here :)

Further on is a magnificent mausoleum with a crypt. To get to it you have to climb the stairs. Beneath lies a secret chamber with a skeleton trapped behind a movable wall.

P.S. I almost forgot. After building the graveyard there are still some bricks left. You can build a small creature with them. It also comes with the instructions. Just a little bonus at the end of the build :)
